Cashtown races to 4-1 victory in championship series opener
The defending SPL champion Cashtown Pirates got off to a good start in their quest to repeat by taking game one 4-1 over visiting Hanover Thursday night. Hanover got the scoring started in the third when Andrew Burke singled home Pat Brady to give the Raiders a brief lead. Cashtown knotted the score in the fourth, with Wes Deporter's infield single bringing in D.J. Cool, who had doubled. The Pirates then put up a 3-spot in the bottom of the fifth. Cool drove in Zach Ketterman with a single to put the Buccos on top, Tyler Reinert singled in Chase King for insurance, and Chris Schachle drove in Cool with a sac fly to cap the scoring. King went the distance for Cashtown, limiting the Raiders to one run on seven hits despite striking out no one. King helped his cause by issuing no walks and his defense was perfect behind him.
Game two moves to Hanover on Saturday, with the first pitch slated for 1:00.
