Pirates and Raiders finalize SPL championship rematch with closeout wins
The Hanover Raiders completed a three-game sweep of top seeded New Oxford with a come from behind 6-3 win Monday at NOHS. Hanover trailed 3-0 heading into the sixth, but the first five Raiders reached base, with an RBI single by Mark Phillips and bases loaded walk to Clint Roche driving in runs. Kody Kibler's fielder's choice knotted the game at 3-3 before Kenny Horney delivered his second game-winning hit in two days by blasting a two-run triple to right. Jake Toal pitched into the seventh for the win and Jon Karlheim closed the door with a two-out save.
Cashtown scored eight runs in the first two innings and held hot-hitting Littlestown at bay in a 12-4 win to close out their semifinal series. Robert Rohrbaugh account for five of the runs with a 2-run double in the first and a 3-run jack to center in the second. Rohrbaugh finished with three hits, while Zach Ketterman and Tyler Reinert both had two. DJ Cool notched his second win in the series by throwing six innings of relief. Tanner Kohler drilled a pair of solo homers for Littlestown in the loss. He was joined by teammate Jacob Crawmer with two hits for the Dodgers.
Game one of the SPL championship series will be at Cashtown Thursday night at 6:00. The regular season series between the Raiders and Pirates was as even as it could get, with each team splitting a pair of contests at the other's field.
