Raiders and Pirates one win away from finals rematch

The Hanover Raiders and Cashtown Pirates both moved to within one game of a SPL finals rematch with wins on Sunday afternoon.

Hanover defeated New Oxford in dramatic fashion, as the Raiders scored two runs with two down in the bottom of the 9th for the 2-1 win. Andrew Burke and Anthony Lippy were locked into a pitcher's duel as neither team could dent the scoreboard through 8 innings. New Oxford pushed the first run of the contest across in the top of the ninth on Alex Emlet's sac fly. Hanover had two on with two outs when an infield single and subsequent throwing error allowed the Raiders to tie it. Kenny Horney then played the hero's role with a long single to plate Kody Kibler with the game winner. Horney and Kibler had two hits apiece for Hanover, while Jeff Deveney, Mitch Collins, and Dan Shafer all had two hits for the Twins. Game three of the best-of-five series takes place Monday at New Oxford High School.

Cashtown overcaming a stinging loss on Saturday to recoup with a 7-3 win over Littlestown in game three of their series on Sunday. Alex Dehaas went the distance for the win for the Pirates, who received three-hit performances from Zach Ketterman and Michael Tempel in the win. Tyler Reinert added two hits for the Pirates. Sean Connole, Brian Laurito, and Sam Wertz each had two hits for the Dodgers, who will host game 4 tonight at 6:00.
