Black Sox notch weekend sweep
Tanner Byers picked up both a win and a save as Biglerville swept a doubleheader Sunday at North Carroll. In game one, Bill Rexroth threw 4.2 shutout innings before turning things over to Byers in the Black Sox 3-0 win. Byers then relieved in the second inning of the nightcap and closed out a 14-1 Biglerville win.
In other SPL weekend action, Brushtown and New Oxford split their doubleheader. Brushtown pushed the go-ahead run across in the top of the fifth, and three outstanding outfield catches halted New Oxford threats during the Bulldogs' 3-2 game one win. Twins pitcher Conrad Miller tossed a complete game one-hitter to lift the Twins to a 9-0 victory in the finale.
Hanover defeated Cashtown 4-1 in game one of their twinbill before the Pirates stormed back for a 17-4 in game two to earn the split.
Littlestown beat Gettysburg 14-2 in game one of their doubleheader, but rain forced the cancellation of game two. No makeup date for that one has been reported.
