Cashtown led big early, then survived a Littlestown "home" team comeback to edge the Dodgers 6-5 Tuesday at Cashtown. The Pirates led 5-1 after three before Littlestown began plugging away. Zach Ketterman drove in three and was one of three Pirates with a pair of hits. Jacob Crawmer had three hits and Joe Murren drove in three for Littlestown.
Hanover defeated Brushtown 14-1 at Brushtown. No game details were available.
With Littlestown's field still deemed unplayable as of Monday due to recent heavy rains, Littlestown and Cashtown have agreed to play Tuesday night's game at Cashtown, with the Dodgers serving as home team. The two teams did the same earlier in the season, when the Pirates served as home team while playing a game at Littlestown. Game time on Tuesday is at the normal 6:00 p.m.
Brusthtown's game at Gettysburg scheduled for tonight has been postponed and will be played next Monday, July 15.
Both Cashtown and Littlestown swept doubleheaders on Sunday. Cashtown extended its league lead by dismantling Brushtown 12-2 in six innings and 18-0 in five. Littlestown, meanwhile, survived a 12-inning marathon with Biglerville to win its opener 4-2 before shutting out the Black Sox 12-0 in five in the nightcap.
New Oxford at Hanover and North Carroll at Gettysburg were postponed due to wet grounds. Makeup dates for those games are pending.
Cashtown scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to beat New Oxford 2-0 Wednesday at New Oxford High School. Michael Tempel led off the fifth with a single and he scored on Ethan Ketterman's sac bunt. Ketterman reached on an error on the play and scored two batters later on an Chris Schachle RBI single. Josh Topper threw six innings and allowed just one hit to get the win, and Tempel shut the door in the seventh. Schachle and Robert Rohrbaugh each had two hits for the Pirates.
