Robert Rohrbaugh's grand slam highlighted a 6-run top of the first and Cashtown cruised from there to an 11-2 win Thursday at Oakside. The game lasted six innings and was called due to darkness. Rohrbaugh had five total RBIs and was joined by Chris Schachle with three hits. Zach Ketterman and Chase King added two hits each as part of a 15-hit attack. Tyler Reinert went five strong innings to notch the win. Noah Ayers had two of the Black Sox three hits.
New Oxford escaped Hanover with a 2-1 win at Diller Field. The Twins scored twice in the third inning on RBI doubles by Dan Shafer and Mitch Collins but were otherwise shut down by Hanover hurlers A.J. Baadte and Bob Taylor. Hanover cut the lead in half when Pat Brady led off by reaching on an error and scored on a wild pitch in the sixth, but Twins pitcher Anthony Lippy buckled down to escape the jam. Lippy alllowed just three hits and struck out five in going the distance for New Oxford. Shafer and Collins were the games' only multiple hitters.
South Penn League Statistician Micah Aumen has released the final end of season SPL stats for 2019. Statistics were sent to league representatives, managers, and the local media.

Hanover erased a three-run defecit with a 4-run top of the sixth and held on from there as the Raiders upended New Oxford 5-4 Tuesday night at New Oxford High School. Trailing 4-1, Hanover's sixth began with a hit batter and walk, which ended the night of Twins starter Doug Politz. Following another free pass, Bob Taylor drove in a run with a sac fly, and Phillips' high chop single made it 4-3. Adam Smith then laced a double to tie the game up and, after a second out, Phillips came home on a wild pitch to put the Raiders in front. New Oxford put the leadoff runner on base in both the sixth and seventh, but reliever Pat Brady escaped trouble both times to earn the save in support of Jon Karlheim, who tossed five plus innings for the win.
Cashtown scored in each of the first four innings and got balanced offense throughout the lineup in the Pirates' 6-1 win over Biglerville in their semi-final opener at Cashtown. Eight of Cashtown's nine batters registered a hit, with leadoff man Zach Ketterman the only player with multiple hits. Winner pitcher Chase King helped his cause by driving in a pair of runs. On the bump he limited the Black Sox to just three hits on the night, striking out nine along the way.
In Sunday's only remaining SPL opening round playoff contest, the Hanover Raiders defeated North Carroll 7-2 at Diller Field. Mark Phillips drove in five runs on three hits that included a solo home run, and Beau Deatrick threw a complete-game 3-hitter to push the Raiders into the SPL playoffs second round.
Hanover will take on New Oxford in a best-of-five series beginning Tuesday at New Oxford High School. Biglerville will travel to Cashtown in the other SPL semi-final Tuesday.
Biglerville rebounded from an early 5-2 defecit to defeat Littlestown 6-5 Saturday at Oakside Community Park. The win gives Biglerville the series sweep of the Dodgers and advances the Black Sox to round two of the SPL playoffs. Ben Bretzman fired 6.2 innings, allowing five runs despite surrendering only one hit. Tyler Kime and Tanner Byers had two hits each and Kyle Gillingham drove in two runs for the Black Sox.
Hanover edged North Carroll 3-2 at Hampstead to even their series at 1-1. Bob Taylor had two hits and drove in two runs for Hanover. Tyler Null went 6.2 innings and Clint Roche got the final out for the save. Wade Groupp had three hits for the Panthers.
New Oxford advanced to round two with a 10-0 victory over Gettysburg at Rec Park. The Twins mustered just four hits on the afternoon but took advantage of 11 Gettysburg free passes. Will Tokarski allowed just one hit and fanned seven.
Alex DeHass and Tyler Reinert combined to allow no hits and recorded 13 of their 15 outs via strikeout as Cashtown blanked Brushtown 15-0 in five innings. Reinert and Hunter Rang combined to drive in seven runs for the Pirates.
