Last year's SPL title game combatants got off to winning starts in their playoff semi-finals series openers Tuesday night.

Cashtown led 7-2 entering the seventh inning and withstood a Littlestown charge, as reliever Josh Topper shut the door with a game-ending strikeout in the Pirates' 7-6 win. The Dodgers had the tying and go-ahead runners in scoring position when Topper relieved starter D.J. Cool to notch the save. Chris Schachle's pinch-hit 3-run homer helped the Pirates stake their early lead. Mike Tempel and Chase King each had two hits for Cashtown. Littlestown, which outhit the defending SPL champs 12-10, got three hits each from Justin Keith and Tanner Kohler in the loss.

Hanover got clutch hits from multiple players to defeat the Twins 4-1. Jon Karlheim threw five innings to get the win and Clint Roche held the Twins at bay with two innings of shutout relief. Jeff Deveney's RBI single in the bottom of the first gave the Twins an early lead. Conrad Miller was perfect through three innings, but the Raiders solved the righty in their second trip through the lineup. Mark Phillips blasted a triple to tie the game in the fourth, and Adam Smith's booming double put the Raiders on top in the fifth. Pat Brady and A.J. Phillips added insurance runs with RBI hits.

Littlestown and Hanover will host game two of their respective series Thursday at 6:00.

 

Hanover and New Oxford both completed opening-round playoff series sweeps with road victories on Sunday.

Hanover got 11 strikeouts from Kody Kibler and a home run from Mark Phillips for the second straight day as the Raiders eeked out a 2-1 win over Brushtown to cap their series. 

New Oxford downed North Carroll 5-1. Dan Shafer's two-run single helped the Twins establish an early lead, and Alex Emlet tossed seven innings for the complete-game win.

Hanover and New Oxford will now square off against each other in the SPL semis, which begin Tuesday. Game one will be at New Oxford High School.  In the other semifinal matchup, Littlestown will travel to Cashtown for game one on Tuesday.

 

Cashtown and Littlestown each advanced to the South Penn League playoff semifinals with wins on Saturday that closed out their opening round series.

Cashtown took down Gettysburg by a score of 13-2, while the Dodgers edged Biglerville 4-2.

In other playoff action, Hanover took game one of their series with Brushtown with a 3-0 victory. The two teams will play game two of their best-of-three series Sunday at Brushtown.

New Oxford and North Carroll will play game two of their series Sunday at North Carroll.

 

New Oxford and North Carroll have postponed their game scheduled for Saturday due to wet grounds at North Carroll High School.  The game has been moved back a day to Sunday, July 29 at 1:00.

 

With the Gettysburg Rec Park closed for the weekend due to wet grounds, Gettysburg and Cashtown have agreed to play game two of the playoff series at Cashtown on Saturday at 1:00.

Oakside Park is also closed due to wet grounds, so Biglerville and Littlestown will be playing game two of their series on Saturday at Littlestown, with Biglerville taking on the home team's role. That game will also be at 1:00.

With additional rain possible late Friday, other SPL games for Saturday may be in question. We will update this website as soon as possible if news develops.
