Tyler Null allowed just one run over six innings and Andrew Burke provided a 3-run homer to lift Hanover to a 5-1 win over Cashtown in game one of the SPL championship series Thursday at Diller Field. Null didn't strike out a batter but limited the Pirates to a single run, coming on Chris Schachle's solo home run in the top of the sixth. Austin Kibler's sac fly in the second staked the Raiders to an early lead, and he provided the final run on an RBI single in the fifth. Earlier in the fifth, Burke launched his blast, helping the Raiders break things open for good. Burke was joined by Mark Phillips, Clint Roche, and Pat Brady with two-hit nights, while Schachle had two of the Pirates' five hits.

Game two moves to Cashtown Saturday at 1:00 p.m., with Austin Kibler and Chase King mentioned as the tentative starters.

It will be a Pirate themed 2017 South Penn League final, as the Hanover Raiders and Cashtown Pirates advanced to the championship series with road victories Monday night.

Hanover defeated Littlestown 7-3 as Andrew Burke notched his second win of the series. Mark Phillips and Kody Kibler each drove in a pair of runs and Kenny Horney was 3-for-3 for the Raiders, who advance to the SPL finals for the third straight year.

Cashtown got RBI singles from Zach Ketterman and Chris Schachle in the top of the third and pitcher D.J. Cool made the runs stand up in the Pirates' 2-0 win over New Oxford. Cashtown returns to the championship series for the first time since 2012.

Hanover won the regular season series between the two teams 3-1. Cashtown took the first meeting this year, beating Hanover 6-5 at Diller Field. The Raiders swept a doubleheader at Cashtown in late June by scores of 6-1 and 3-0, then turned away the Pirates 5-4 in the final week of the season to secure the top playoff seed.

Game one of the best-of-five series is Thursday at Diller Field at 6:00.

Pat Brady's single in the bottom of the 7th drove in Austin Kibler to give the Hanover Raiders a 6-5 walkoff win over Littlestown Sunday afternoon at Diller Field.  The rally was made necessary after the Dodgers' Ryan Kehr knotted the game with a 2-run homer in the top half of the 7th. Andrew Burke homered for Hanover and drove in three. Clint Roche picked up the win in relief. Hanover owns a 2-1 series lead, with game four Monday at Littlestown's Memorial Field.

Cashtown also took a 2-1 series lead on Sunday after a 5-2 win over New Oxford. Chris Schachle's 2-run homer in the third helped the Pirates jump out to a 3-0 lead, and Brendan Reinert tossed a complete game to make the lead stand. The Twins loaded the bases in the 7th and brought the go-ahead run to the dish, but Reinert induced a double-play grounder to end the contest. Game four is set for Monday night at New Oxford High School.

Heavy rain Friday night has forced the postponement of both of Saturday's SPL semifinal playoff contests.  Both games will be moved back one day to Sunday, with Hanover and Cashtown remaining as hosts.  Game time is 1:00.  Game four will then be played on Monday, July 31 at Littlestown and New Oxford, respectively.

The Littlestown Dodgers rallied back from an early 5-run deficit, then notched the winning run on an Andy Bucher single in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat Hanover 8-7 Thursday at Memorial Field. Bucher, who had three hits in the game, drove home Ryan Kehr with the game-winner. Kehr picked up the win in relief. Kai Hess joined Bucher with three hits, Sam Wertz and Sean Connole had two apiece, and player-manager Joe Murren homered for the Dodgers. Andrew Burke, whose seventh-inning single forced extra frames, joined Clint Roche, Kenny Horney, and A.J. Phillips with two hits for Hanover, while Mark Phillips drilled a 3-run homer as part of the Raiders 6-run second inning. The series is now tied 1-1, with game three set for Diller Field Saturday at 1:00, weather permitting.

In the other semi-final, New Oxford scored single runs in each inning from the second through sixth, lifting the Twins past Cashtown 5-2 and evening their series. The game featured two of the South Penn's best on the bump as Anthony Lippy and Chase King squared off, but King was lifted after allowing two runs and four walks through 3 innings. Lippy went the distance for the win, striking out five and allowing four hits. Mitch Collins and Dan Shafer each had two hits for the winners, while Jeff Deveney drove in a pair. Eithan and Zach Ketterman each drove in runs for the Pirates, who crept within a run on two occassions and nearly broke things open in the fifth following a controversial fair-foul call that ultimately benefitted the Twins. The series moves to Cashtown for game three on Saturday.
