With Gettysburg HS playing in the District 3 title game and Cashtown having multiple players with ties to the team, SPL commissioner Parker Lerew has allowed this Thursday's scheduled game between Littlestown and Cashtown, with agreement by both teams, to be moved to Friday, May 31. The game will be played AT LITTLESTOWN under the lights at 7:00 p.m., with Cashtown serving as home team.

In other news, Commissioner Lerew allowed Brushtown, with gracious cooperation from Gettysburg and Littlestown, to reschedule a pair of games last week in order to give the team time to regroup after a pair of earlier forfeits. The game between Brushtown and Gettysburg that was scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 has now been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 3, at 7:00 under the lights at Rec Park.

 

Matt Negro homered, doubled, and drove in four runs to lead Cashtown past Littlestown by a score of 8-2 Tuesday night at Cashtown. Chris Schachle, who homered, and Michael Tempel were both 3-for-3 for the Pirates. Chase King went the distance on the hill, striking out six. Joe Murren had two hits for Littlestown, including a solo homer.

New Oxford pitcher Doug Politz struck out 12 hitters in six innings of work as the Twins defeated North Carroll 7-1. Anthony Lippy led the Twins 12-hit attack with three hits, and Matt Martin and Brady Topper chipped in with two apiece. Ryan Gerber had two of North Carroll's three hits, and Trevor Boring stole home for the Panthers' lone run.

 

Hanover and Cashtown split a pair of games on Sunday by identical 5-4 scores Sunday at Diller Field. In the opener, Hanover trailed 4-2 entering the seventh but put together a 3-run rally that was capped by AJ Phillips' walkoff hit. The charge made a winner of Tyler Null, who went the distance for the Raiders. Robert Rohrbaugh homered for Cashtown in the loss.  Cashtown turned the tables on Hanover in the nightcap as this time they trailed 4-2 entering the seventh. The Pirates scored two off of Andrew Burke to knot the score, and Hunter Rang delivered the game-winning hit in the eighth. Mark Phillips homered for the Raiders in defeat.

In other SPL action from the weekend, Littlestown took two from Gettysburg at Rec Park. Calvin Benevento struck out six over six innings in the Dodgers' 7-2 opening game win, before Sean Connole followed with six-inning two-hit shutout in the 13-0 game two victory. Jacob House and Sam Wertz had three hits each and Justin Keith homered and drove in game two, while Troy Litten and Cory Rice doubled for the Grays in the opener.

New Oxford swept Brushtown in a pair of five-inning wins at New Oxford. The Twins took game one 11-1 behind a strong pitching performance from Will Tokarski, who fanned 13 and allowed only Chris Staub's RBI double. Jeff Deveney and Anthony Lippy had two hits each. In game two, Conrad Miller allowed no hits in a 10-0 shutout. Larry Baumgardner, Austin Roth, and Joel Clabaugh all had two hits with Clabaugh driving in four.

Biglerville and North Carroll split their twinbill in Hampstead, MD. Brendan Delridge fanned seven and allowed just three hits in the Black Sox 2-0 game one win. Tucker Byers and Tyler Kime doubled in the game. The Panthers salvaged the split by pounding three Biglerville pitchers for 14 hits and scoring four runs in the bottom of the first.

 

North Carroll's Zack Nedzel homered and drove in four to lead the Panthers to a 10-6 win over previously undefeated Hanover Thursday night at Diller Field. Teammate Todd Wilmer drove in three on a pair of hits, while brother Andrew Wilmer also had two hits, scored three runs, and tossed three innings to notch a save. Nedzel struck out four over four innings to gain the victory on the mound. For Hanover, Alex Smith was 2-for-4 and Mark Phillips drove in two. Raiders starter AJ Baadte struck out six over four innings of work.

In other SPL action from Thursday, New Oxford held off the Biglerville 7-4 at Oakside. The Twins led 5-0 after four innings, fueled in part by an Alex Emlet solo homer and Jeff Deveney's RBI double. But Biglerville came back with four runs in the fifth on Noah Ayers' RBI single and a two-run blast from Tyler Kime. New Oxford tacked on insurance runs in the last two frames on two-out RBI singles from Larry Baumgardner and Derek Smith. Emlet, Smith, and winning pitcher Jordan Arnold each had two hits for the Twins.

Littlestown and Brushtown postponed their scheduled game and will replay the contest at a later date.

 

Despite managing just a pair of hits on the evening the Hanover Raiders won their sixth game of the season, edging Biglerville 4-3 Tuesday in a makeup game at Diller Field. Adam Smith doubled and Bob Taylor singled with both driving in runs, as the Raiders took advantage of three walks and four Black Sox errors. Jon Karlheim went six innings for the win, while Brendan Delridge struck out six in the hard-luck loss.  Noah Ayers had two hits for Biglerville.

In other South Penn action from Tuesday, Littlestown pitcher Sam Zeigler stuck out 12 in a 4-2 victory over Gettysburg. Joe Murren and Justin Keith had two hits each for the Dodgers. Gettysburg outhit the Dodgers 8-5.
